Closed Seasons 2022

The Guyana Wildlife Conservation and Management Commission has declared the following periods to be open and closed seasons for mammals, birds and reptiles:

BIRDS

REPTILES

Red-footed tortoise (Chelonoidis carbonaria) 1 April – 31 July with restriction on carapace size i.e. maximum harvest length of 10cm SCL (straight carapace length) 1 August – 31 March
Green Iguana (Iguana iguana) 1 May – 31 July 1 August – 30 April

The trapping, hunting, wounding, killing or sale of the categories contained in this publication is prohibited during the outlined periods.

Any person who engages in the trade of these species during the outlined periods will be liable to pay a fine of $750,000 to $2,000,000 and face imprisonment for up to 3 years
